A lot of “camo collectors” will thumbs up a lot of sketchy camos as it’s self serving. I would post it on German Helmet Walhalla - the best German helmet collectors are there.
I’ve been considered a top German helmet collector by some and there are red flags all over this one. Where is the dome wear? Why the large patterned scrapes in atypical yplaces? Tool marks? Why is there a lack of field use scratching and wear? Why the unique paint and initials painted on the exterior?
When this many questions are asked the collector should step back and take a critical look at the piece.
I agree with all Doug has said, certainly agree with his credentials, plus that GHW is a great place to authenticate the helmet. What bothers me is the removal of the photos and the dismissal by the OP for the opinions from the very knowledgeable members here. If you are not really looking for honest feedback than why even post the helmet. I have some suspicions myself ... Of which I've seen many times in my role as Super Moderator over at another forum
Of course those "positive" comments over at FB give no substance which is typical. Relying on FB feedback versus forums like here, War Relics Forum, GHW and WAF, where serious collectors /experts reside is pure folly
Unfortunately I never saw the photos so I was not able to comment.
