A few informations about the differences between reserve, Landwehr and Landsturm of the German Empire

Dear friends,
based on a discussion in the last few days, I have compiled some information about the reserve- and Landwehr-service of the army of German Empire. I wrote it down and tried to translate it into English, maybe some of you will find it interesting.
The regulations are from post 1888, since on February 11, 1888 the law about military service and the Landwehr changed.

Not to hijack your extremely useful thread Sandy, but to answer Steve's question it is GdC or GKR and 'probably' an M1842 as it has a separate overlay for the Garde motto, and it is solid Neusilber weighing an astonishing 84 grams. Heavy thick stampings is a characteristic of early Prussian Wappens of any type.

My M1894 version with Vaterland Bandeau and back loops is a one-piece stamping (except of course the Tombak center with eagle) and weighs just 42 grams.
