This marking does not give me a warm and fuzzy. Regularly city markings like this were reserved for police/firefighter elements. I do not know when the marking was placed on the helmet–many of these nonmilitary types were private purchase. Not for me.

Typically, the Bavarian officer kokarde blue painted ring does not have 3 ridges to it. The real ones do not have the middle ridge which is always present on the Reich officer kokarde and the Prussian officer kokarde. Consequently, I would say that in my opinion which by the way is not the word of God the Bavarian kokarde on this helmet is a repro. If anyone can clarify or provide any additional info on the 3 ring VS 2 ring Bavarian officer kokarde, feel free to comment. B

Thanks guys! its those little details i am slowly(but surely) learning about. I have a couple reference books coming my way so hopefully i will get to know more of these little details for the future. Im looking for a nice bavarian helmet to add to my collection but from what i gather from looking on this forum is that they arent the most desirable type of helmet. Why is that? Age of Kings has a very nice one for sale at the moment that i really really like its a Bavarian Lieb Infantry Officer helmet that looks excellent but i think i still need to do more research on these helmets too make sure im really getting my moneys worth.

thanks again!
weird one

This is the right move, weird one. In addition to previous justified comments, this helmet is in mediocre condition: damaged surface shell finish, lost matt gilding on the plate, missing silk liner... bavarian officer spike helmets are common; be patient and you will find a much nicer one.
