BRASS ARTILLERY HELMET

There is brass artillery helmet on one of the dealer's site at the moment. It was cheap for an artillery helmet with the limited description. Got the items with 3 other helmets. Well the artillery helmet has double holes which was not described by the dealer. When questioned, dealer said "You should have asked questions before purchase". I returned all the items cos the officer helmet has stars that are also not original.

Anyway, dealer received the carton and it was my mistake that my poor packing damaged the rear visor and the threads got loose and of course I am prepared to pay for the mistake. The dealer was absolutely upset with the returns and claimed that he handles 3500 items annually and it is a mistake to miss the double holes and they don't pull helmets apart to see double holes.

The thing is - unless you are blind else when you turn the helmet over, you can see the double holes.

As items have already been returned, I can see that the dealer has placed everything online without changing the description.

It is very alarmed to see that dealer does not photograph and describe the items honestly and we buyers are expected to ask questions before purchase.

So members beware of short description and ask for more pics before making purchases.

Hi Amy,
When selling German helmets is his business he should know what they should look like and know how any changes can impact their value, so from my POV not describing the item accurately is an intention to deceive.
When I buy from a private person on eBay I know the item might have hidden issues, but then it also has a lower price than at a dealer.
Best regards, Lars

Hi Lars,

The thing is now he knows there are double holes and a broken visor but yet the description online did not change. He has deducted $125 for damaging the visor and I pay shipping both ways so I feel that he should at least be honest about the double holes and of cos the star fasteners which are valued at $150 for a set of 4 should be highlighted.

Anyway in his fit of anger, he challenged me to publish his whole email and he explicitly grant me permission to do so.

His company name starts with a B and the second syllabus starts with an S, not BullShit though but I guess worse than that when you refuse to describe the helmets honestly.

I am not sour over the money, I just hate the thought of dishonest dealers. He was pretty good many years ago when I dealt with him.

Hi john

Yes I remembered your case, your dealer is in Germany while mine is in USA.

Members, please be wary when dealing with dealers. Items are becoming harder to get forcing these dealers to misdecribe everything to earn quick buck to keep their business afloat.

After much confrontation, the dealer had changed the description of the artillery helmet on his website. He charged me $120 for breaking the visor but he only reduced his website price by $100.
He also did not change the description of the officer helmet where the star are not original and the jarrett collection camo has rivets that are not original to the helmet.
So which part of honestly have I missed?

I know the dealer, BS are appropriate initials. He does get some nice things, and has a good reputation among inexperienced collectors. As far as I’m concerned, used car salesmen are more reputable. He is a smooth operator, not to be trusted.

Sorry to see this bad news Amy.

I once witnessed Scott buy a nice splotch cammo M16/M17 helmet with no liner from our very own member Keoki (George A) at the SOS a few years back.

He whined and cried and and was able to talk George down a hundred from what he was asking for the helmet. I was sorry to see George oblige him.

He sounded like an obnoxious used car salesman indeed while conducting the transaction.

Best Regards,

Alan

I used to think Scott was a fair and pleasant dealer but a year or two ago, when he tried telling me that he doesn't take credit card especially from Asian countries, I feel that he is being racist. Weeks later, he came back and apologised and said it's a mistake and he will do XXX to get the deal through. By then, I have already spent my money with Randy T. so gave him a miss. And this four helmets were July 2019 transaction which was very disappointing to see the goods in such a sorry state and when asked about the mismatch, Scott personally said that buyers are expected to ask questions. What a load of crap!

I know we all like bargains but we also don't mind to pay good prices for items that we really wanted but to receive two cartons of misdescribed items, you really hate to deal with such dishonest dealer.

When I questioned him about the prices he has now listed on his website, he called me a nuisance LOL
