An object dug up from the ground, where it had lain for many years. In two weeks, I’m heading to the Dominican Fair for the remaining parts. You need a touch of madness to try and fix this.

That looks like a very challenging repair, with lots of missing parts. I did a rebuild of battlefield finds when I was much younger, merging several Patronentaschen into one. It came out looking quite ok, but a lot smaller than the original due to the leather shrinkage. The pre-repair picture is from even longer ago, with the corresponding (lack of) quality

WOW that is very impressive. it's a chore for me to sew back on a cuff or jacket buton from my own clothes.
