Chinese officers in German army

The gentleman to the right of Prince Paribatra is Oberleutnant Arthur Julius von Eschwege assigned as the Prince’s military escort officer (Militär-Begleiter) from 1 April 1902 to 10 March 1903. He was killed in action on 24 October 1914 as a Major and battalion commander in the 1. Garde-Reserve-Regiment.

Discharged from service as Hauptmann in 1903. Later made à la suite of the regiment.

I'm curious are there any records of the above mentioned Chinese officers in Rangliste or other similar literatures? Perhaps in regimental history?

Hi Jvpi,

I will certainly look. A quick browse through the 1903 and 1904 Ranglisten does not show those chaps assigned to FAR 43. Interestingly, Prince Paribatra of Siam is listed in the Ranglisten (see 1902 below) also merits an entry in the Offizier-Stammliste of GGR 4.

Thanks for checking, I also did a little bit research today. I think since they were never members of the German army so they're not listed. The Siam prince instead was an active officer in the army and wore the regimental uniform.
