Target (TGT) announced on Tuesday that it is closing nine stores in four states, citing theft, organized retail crime and worker safety. The stores will close on October 21.

The stores that will close include: A New York City store in Harlem. Two stores in Seattle. Three stores in the San Francisco and Oakland area, and Three stores in Portland, Oregon.

Retail Giant Wal-Mart is doing similar, in cities such as Chicago, and elsewhere.

That is very disturbing to hear Alan. The same issue is happening to jewelry stores in Toronto apparently. I learned that from one of our local jewelry stores. Their door was locked when I went to go in. I had to knock first and then was admitted by a staff member. When I naturally asked why, I got that explanation.

they just steal what they want and nothing is done to stop them

It's terrible. I just moved to Los Angeles from San Francisco and it's the same. There are still always some good areas and most are good people, but bad policy just emboldens those bad actors.

I understand why many people aren't willing to share their collection. It's a hazard and makes you a target for theft.

Here in Canada they focus on taking guns away from licensed collectors, shooting range enthusiasts and hunters as opposed to making harsher penalties for gun crime. Sucks!
