The liner. "Das Innenfutter"

Wow, excellent condition! That innenfutter is a complete surprise....scalloped edges and black silk, a more modern type. I was expecting to see a leather liner with squared tongues.

Gunnar told me the Seidenrips (Silk repp) "bag" (with cord to adjust) was added later. He decided to leave as it is.
Francis

Wow !!

I have never seen a liner like this the scallops are huge along with the black silk.

Just WOW !!!!

Thanks for the picture. :D :D :D

Another batch of pictures of a M1842/43 helmet:
Gunnar asked me to post these:
Illustrating that there were different patterns of the Innenfutter; the liner.

I know the New York collection this came from .
I was able to see this collection a few years back.
I sold the collector a red line Prussian Infantry Fahna .
He wanted me to fly the flag to New York
so he paid 1/2 of my round trip airfare to
bring him the flag .
His collection was featured in a magazine .
It was something to see
He since has moved to Munich

The small handpainted black eagle on the Gardestern on the first helmet: this centre part is magnetic.

"Suum Cuique": I read that this part was porcelain ! (Have to check for the reference !!)

From Volume 2 of J-L Larcade: Enamelled/emailliert

Are you referring to a german guy, who moved back from NY to Germany about 8 years ago?

Another batch of pictures from Gunnar:

"The helmet in the following pictures resembles mine (the one with the painted center of the Gardestern). Especially pay attention to the eagles feet"

An excellent photo essay here, not too many collectors get to see 3 different M 42 helmets! Thanks again Francis for helping Gunnar out by posting these. :thumb up:

Bruno ;
The collection I saw in NYC a few years ago
was Christopher Ross
I don't think that he was German ?
but he did move to Munich
His town house with parts of the collection
was shown some years ago in a very up-scale magazine
the article was titled ;
" Dressed to Kill "

One item from his collection that I sold him ;
was one of the two Kettle drum covers for the 4th Kurassiere Regiment
It sold at a Thies auction and was purchased by Jason Burmeister
a real rare beauty
