European Militaria Shows

We have had some photos taken and posted in the past of European Museum collections and some of the shows. I would like to Encourage our European members to bring their cameras along when they go to a show, no matter how small and take some pictures to post here on the forum. I will do the same here both with the SOS as well as the smaller shows held here in the Toronto area. A forum is a living and growing thing, it thrives on new posts and responses. As it grows, it becomes a huge data base for research and information which can be, and is used by thousands of people. We collectors think only of the actual original historic pieces in our hunt for treasure but there are spin off benefits to other people.....family researchers, historians, game designers, reenactors, the film industry, restorers, museum curators, artists, modelers and yes, charlatans and fakers but we can try and restrict that. If we step back and look at our present situation, never in the History of WW Imperial German collecting, has there EVER been so much information available! We have this forum, The Kaisers Bunker and Col. J's plus others that I am not aware of. This is a great time to be alive and collecting. Something to think about!
One last thing.....many of our European collectors feel shy or unsure about their "English" please, do not worry about that. We can work around this problem and no one is going to criticize you. Pictures speak a thousand words.

in some cases it is englisch with donky jumps
but we are learning to write correct englisch
so bare with us

True Jonas.....just as it would be if I posted on a French or German forum. However, I never have any problem understanding your posts or any other non English speaking member.

Another point is that YOUR English is much better than my Deutsch, or German, and my French is less than that of a one year old in France. You all do a marvelous job.

This is an international forum, if you want, post in your first language, we need the practice:)

Hello

Last WE, I attended a show of collectible cars and vehicles in Moscow.
To my surprise, there were a few "off topic" stalls, such as old phones, food or militaria...

So outside the impressive list of cars, trucks and bicycles, here are afew pictures of the militaria booths.

Many thanks for the pictures JM. It is good to see what militaria is for sale in Moscow.

Nice photos JM! Thanks for sharing.

I also like the Floh Markt stalls in Berlin. I found a nice Berlin Police helmet there... a souvenir I'd always wanted from that city.

Surprinsingly, and although there are many collectors in Russia, I am not aware of any specialised militaria show in Russia. All there is is a monthly medals and insignias reunion, and some specialised dealers (+) in the Izmailovo flea market

Ja, ook in Vlaams

Dat is super Gus! Ik wist niet dat je Vlaams spreekt?

That's super Gus! I didn't know you speak Flemish?

Anyway, concerning the pictures of European shows, it's usually not appreciated by the visitors of the show that they appear on pictures. I don't know why but that's the way it is.
I just came back from the Reichertshofen show in Germany and the organisation had absolutely forbidden to take pictures or to film at the show... Very different than the US shows if you ask me.

I do not, but it is easier to understand than the English spoken across the channel. Maggie and I were in Ostend years ago at a cafe and sitting by a Flemish couple I could understand quite a lot of their conversation, but when we landed in Dover the next day I found it impossible to understand a word of the people who sat next to us in a cafe. Because waitress could understand them, I have to assume they were speaking some dialect of English. I need to practice on Flemish for the next time I am in Leuven.

Gus, I live only 25 km from Leuven... When you are in Belgium, you can always let me know and I suppose you don't come with your truck :-" so the bunker will be open for you then :p ...

I would love to visit your bunker, and you are right, I seldom travel in Europe with my truck, if you ever get to the new world, you must see Yellowstone park, we are only 250 miles from the west end of the park and that is like 25 km in Belgium:)

Thanks for the information Karel, I guess we will just have to continue with US and CN militaria shows.
