This seems to be the source:

Some of them look sort of "right," but some of 'em are ---fortunately---
way off.

I was once criticized in the annals of this forum for having a "paranoia about the 'theft' of photos." Quite to the contrary, I really don't view stealing and fraud as anything other than crimes that customarily land the malefactor in hot water.

For those who question the harm when pictures are lifted from Kaiser's Bunker or Colonel J's, this is my reply:

Code GM-2070

Imagine my surprise to find my Kugelhelm used to advertise a reproduction in India. My photo:

From where was this image stolen? Pickelhaubes.com, where it originally appeared in this thread:

http://www.pickelhaubes.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=841

If I (or anyone) ordered item GM-2070 from G Militaria Handicrafts, what do you suppose would actually be dispatched? Where's the harm? You tell me.

The cease and desist mandate will go out ASAP. Furthermore, I encourage the membership of this forum to peruse G Militaria Handicrafts' catalogue thoroughly. The next item you see might be your own.

Another case worthy of mention. Scroll down the "Replicaters" (sic) page to "World War One (ww1, wwi) Imperial German Army Aviators Tunic:"

http://www.replicaters.com/ww1germanarmy.html

Or, view the thumbnail:

http://www.replicaters.com/ww1German%20Army/ww1%20Imperial%20German%20World%20War%20One%20Aviators%20Tunic.jpg

And compare it with this: "Rfa 501 Sergeant's M-1910 Flieger Tunic"

Where's the harm?

Beyond Caveat Emptor, all that can be done is threaten GMH with the wrath of the Attorney General of the United States and charges of wire fraud/Internet fraud.

In the future I will simply copyright or watermark my pictures. Won't that look attractive?

Draft of my correspondence to "Mr. Raj:"

G Militaria Handicrafts
Mr. Raj
A-6, Rampuri, Surya Nagar,
Ghaziabad, (U.P.) India

Dear Mr. Raj:

It is with bitter disappointment and extreme annoyance I write to you regarding your illegal use of a copyrighted digital photograph taken by me of my property to promote the trade of your reproductions.

I refer to:

Code GM-2070

Description

Arittlery (sic) Helmet used in 1874. The era of the "Pickelhaube" corresponded with the building of the German nation. This helmet is a final (sic) example of that era. Extremely Rare very desirable Officers (sic) picklehaube (sic) with good quality inner lining. Leather chin scale and round ball spike, which is also detachable, is been used. An exact copy to original Pickelhaube.

The only place wherein my photograph was published was an Internet collector forum. As proof of my allegation, I encourage you to examine closely the following:

I read with interest your statement on ethics and motives. Ethically, what is your position on stealing intellectual property?

You will remove my photograph from your website immediately and publish an apology. Furthermore, I caution you never to steal from me again. Failure to comply with my wishes will result in your activities being reported to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Attorney General of the United States, and the Federal Communications Commission.

Sincerely,

Actually, a few of my items are on this site, including some CEF tunics. I have gone so far as to write a formal letter to the Indian ambassador in Ottawa as well as to this company. The result? My photos are still there. They just don't care.

Hi Tony:

I remember reading your letter to the Ambassador. Well done!

You might have achieved something after all. Your pictures are still there, but none of the contact, order, exchange rates, etc. pages are working.

"Replicaters" appear to be dead in the water.

C'est la vie

Hello everyone!

I am back from Canada's North!

Early on in developing my parts business, I regret to say that I have dealt with this creature in his guise as Medieval Steelcraft. His name is G.S. Garg.

He still has a number of my prototypes.

"Caveat emptor," for sure!

Enough said.

Cheers,

Laurie
