I bought it because of the unusual Knopf mountings.I have no idea what model it is. Any suggestions are welcome. Repair will be very difficult and time-consuming.
John Josef I'm just checking the scope of my capabilities. Pickelhaube is less demanding.I'm amazed you would even attempt such a repair, a testimony to your skills![]()

I would like some felt. It would be best if some of the felt was ground in a coffee grinder.Knowing your capabilities and my knowledge this fan will live, I think so. I need time and patience. Quite a hard repair.
I need felt dust to smooth out moth damage. This is the same technique used for restoring steel helmets with ground rust.Felt is made by kneading hair in a ball mill, for example, with water, so that the hair curls.
Felt is formed using heat to stiffen the material.
I advise against grinding the felt in a coffee grinder. This will create dust. Brushes are a better way to recover the fibers.
Wow! Already looking really good. So nice you can save these items.Preparation for filling holes and a little straightening. To strengthen the structure, I will use Kenny's recipe, i.e. borax dissolved in water in a 1:10 ratio
