First helmet

Hello everyone,

I just discovered this amazing group! I have obtained my first spike helmet. I need cockades and a leather chin strap. Where may I purchase quality reproductions of these for my helmet? TIA to all who respond!

Hi Reich! Honestly it's a shame to spend money on very good copies,because in time you will replace them with originals anyway,but you have to start somewhere.Greetings Wojtek

I did the same at the beginning, I bought replacements, but Wojtek is right, it's a waste of time and money, because you will still strive for the beauty of the original parts. You can exchange the ones you don't get

Congratulations, I still remember my excitement when I got my first Pickelhaube!
Can you post some pictures of your helmet?
The addition of repro cockades and chin strap will make the helmet look better, and probably cost you less than 75 USD (as opposed to 350 USD ++ for originals). Depends a little bit on the helmet if it is worth to buy original parts for.

The issue of the missing chin strap is a common one, originals start at $250 US unfortunately. We all remember our first helmet!

Congrats, mine was a combi of original and replacements/copies as well...infantry other ranks prussian as I remember.

Leave it as it is and wait for originals to come your way if you can.
