Flight Pay:
"Military Members who are on flying status receive a monthly "flight pay."
There are two types of "flight pay" for enlisted members and one type of flight pay authorized for commissioned and warrant officers.
The Air Force and Navy pay enlisted members Career Enlisted Flier Incentive Pay, and the Army, Marines, and Coast Guard pay Hazardous Duty Incentive (Enlisted Crew Member) Pay.
Commissioned officers and warrant officers who are on flying status receive monthly flight pay, known as Aviation Career Incentive Pay.
The amount of pay received is based upon years of aviation service, not years of military service.
Special Rules. Some special rules apply for commissioned and warrant officers who had less than six years of aviation service as of October 1, 1991:
These officers must have:
8 years of operational flying duty as of their 12th year of aviation service in order to receive continuous flight pay through 18 years of service.
10 years of operational flying duty as of their 18 year of aviation service in order to receive continuous flight pay through 22 years of service.
12 years of operational flying duty as of their 18th year of aviation service in order to receive continuous flight pay through 25 years of service.

Enlisted members must have:
6 years of operatonal flying duty in the first 10 years of aviation service in order to receive continuous flight pay through 15 years of service.

14 years of operational flying duty in the first 20 years of service in order to receive continuous flight pay through 25 years of service.
Special Rules. Some special rules apply for enlisted members in order to be eligible for flight pay.
