French general caps WW1

Dear All

A selection of the two French general képis recently acquired.

Both in absolutely perfect condition.

The one with two rows of laurels is a for a 4 stars general office. The tall one, is for a 2 stars one.

Best

Fantastic examples. Any idea who wore these caps?

Yes, their owners have been identified because the interior bear their initials.

The 4 stars general was the Governor of Lyon until 1916, date on which he died.

The 2 stars general officer was Enest de Maud’huy. He acquired his 2 stars in 1912 and his third at the beginning of 1914. He died in 1921. He was involved in the first Marne battle. He now rests in Les Invalides in Paris.

Thanks, I collected French items for years. I really enjoy the uniforms worn by the French on the outbreak of WW1 and the transition to horizon blue. Your general’s kepis are wonderful. I have 2-3 embroidered kepi but think all but one in storage. I need more room to display my 4 generals uniforms.
Here’s one that Ive put away.
