Christian ;
First , thanks a lot for posting the color photos
of the F R 34 outfit of the Queen of Sweden .
Ever since I got that photo of her as Chef of the regiment
I had wondered where her helmet and outfit were .
Now I know .
I wonder if that nice set of epaulettes of hers with the fringe
are hidden under the cloak ?
Those are super photos .

I have also a single major shoulder strap of F R 34
however it has red underlay
I know the strap is original
The other thing that I can think of is
If they ever changed Armee K . ?

A friend of mine , Mike Kelso is about to go to press
with a book on Imperial German shoulder straps .

On your enlisted straps of F R 34
some have the blue stripe at the bottom
This is for sort of special school the soldier attended ?

Not knowing how old you are ;
Years ago I had a collector friend in Stockholm , Sweden .
Jarl Hartze
he was well know world wide
A big time early collector
He came to visit me a couple of times
when he was in the States .

If you ever have the time
I see you have regiment histories of F R 34
if you happen to have F R 33
maybe my officer has his name in the book ?

Thanks for all
Steve

Christian ;

Do you also collect Grenadier Regt. zu Pferde # 3 ?
( Dragoon Regt. 3 )
The loose cypher was sent to me years ago by Jarl Hartze .
Since it is " flat " I assume that it is not for a German regiment
but a Swedish regiment that had the same cypher .

Do you know of Gilbert Hamilton a Swedish officer
who served in the German Kurassiere Regiments ?

Steve

Hi Steve,

Don't think they're under cloak for that photo but I'm certain they have them somewhere. The complete wardrobe of the Queen (and our other regents) are in the possession of the armory. It's been a long time since the uniforms been on display and I've never seen it myself, but hopefully they'll show up in some future installment.

Sounds strange that it would be on red underlay. What I know the were with the second AK prewar and during the war. Perhaps you could post it? Would love to see it.

I was told by Chip over at GMIC forum that the blue cord meant ""für erfolgte Abkommandirungen zum Lehr-Infanterie-Bataillon"".

I'm in my late twenties so I never got to learn to know Jarl, but I've heard about him before from other collectors.

Sorry, I've concentrated on FR34, so I don't have anything on FR33.

Best regards
Christian

Steve ;

I don't have any thing Gren. Reg z. Pferde nr 3. But I find them interesting due to there connection with Sweden via Gustav the fifth being there Honor Colonel and bearing his chiffre. I think the cypher is made by the Swedish firm Sporrong for the Swedish regiment "Royal Life Guards".

Gilbert Hamilton is a interesting character. I've read his book on his exploits during the first world war. His march back from eastern Europe to Germany after the end of the war is really something.

I own a gift-portrait of Hamilton presented to his friend Felix Graf von Luckner. I'll see if I can take a photo of it later.

Christian ;
Maybe we can do a P M
and exchange emails
It is a lot easier for me to scan photos
and sent to desk top , then attach to an email
a lot quicker and easier than Photo bucket
I can get you a photo that way .
There are some straps that seem 100 % original to me
that do not conform to known rules
meaning to me they are not "put together "
also with email I can you other things that might not be of interest
to other members .

I have a great B & W 8 " X 10 " photo of Jarl
seated in front of some of his helmets
He also sold me some Gilbert Hamilton items that
I traded away and wish that I still had .

Jarl had a contact sheet of Gilbert Hamilton photos
some young in Swedish uniform ; some in German uniform
and some as an older man , still slim and trim and could still dress in his
uniforms and pose in front of a wall with a lot of his military items
mounted on the wall
I still have all of those

Steve
