Small dream came true today, i got my M1842 Hemet .

Landwehr Offizier, there is a reason why he has no Offizier stars ?.

I am grateful for all information about the helmet.

An Unteroffizier Leo was promoted to Seconde-Lieutenant der Landwehr in the I. Bataillon (Königsberg). 1. Landwehr-Regiment on 16 September 1851.

of course, from the Militair-Wochenblatt, edition No 40 of 4 October 1851, page 186. See also his entry from the Rangliste der königlich Preußischen Armee of 1855 (middle column, 2nd from top).

The only thing that still worries me: everything on the helmet are like officer, pearl ring, cocarde, color shield.

Only the 4 rivets not !

In the middle Officer from 1 Landwehr Regiment, like my Helmet owner.

There is one for sale at Weitze that has the officer stars. The cockades also look different from yours, your lines seem to point straight to the center while the ones of the Weitze helmet seem to run from top right to the lower left. Furthermore the one at Weitze has more feathers coming out from the crown while I don't see any feathers on yours. Possibly officer versus EM helmet? I don't know anything about this specific helmet, just wanted to provide you with some additional information/pictures if needed.

Another thing I noticed is that the feathers at the bottom are different from the one at weitze of the one on the kaiserbunker webpage. I attached to pics to show what I mean.

I know very little about helmets from this era so I have hesitated in commenting about the lack of stars etc. However, .....I see a private purchase officer style helmet here with an OR wappen on it, an NCO kokarde (2 rings/ridges, not 3). Now we know Leo was an NCO and then promoted to Lieutenant so perhaps with this rank he was only allowed an Officer spike but not wappen or kokarde?? I am guessing here, let’s hear from the experts.
