Help me restore this pickelhaube

Airfix

New member
Hello, I'm new to this forum.

Just bought a lot with 5 different pickelhaubes, which I want to try to renovate for home display. I'm planning to start with this one.
I'll gladly accept all tips to be able to recreate this helmet. ☺️

It all depends on what you want to make of it.After changes can come out of it a financial officer or a military pharmacist. In my opinion, the rosette and a piece of belt are from the pickelhaube of a fire officer.

I first thought of reshaping it. I think the color still looks good and has a nice patina! But the letaher is hard like a rock

Maybe also try to reshape the visor on it."
And finally restore and find new metal parts."

There are many posts here showing how to restore these helmets. Wojtek has provided a vinegar and water solution formula which you need to use to wet the top of this helmet and get it back to it's original position. This where I would start and yes a Prussian Beamte helmet as has been stated.....squared visor, cruciform spike base and no motto on the wappen. Welcome to the forum.

Thank you all for the help. Should I lower the whole helmet in a mixture of water and vinegar. Or should I use the method of stuffing the helmet with wet newspaper? To then put it on a hat stand and let it dry.
