Help needed finding Information on Leutnant Lothar Paasch of Grenadier Rgt 12.

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for help finding any Information on a Leutnant Lothar Paasch of Grenadier Rgt 12.

So far, I can only find that he was lightly wounded.

The reason I'm asking is that I have in my collection his medals and award documents for the Iron Cross 1. and 2. class. I would like to find and if possible, authenticate the dates that are listed on the documents in an official source from the period.

Also, any other information would be greatly appreciated. (y)(y)

I would also like to know, if possible, the name of the Major who signed the documents sadly the collector who had these items in their collection had them framed and displayed in too much light over the years causing the ink and signatures to fade more than is ideal.

Some members may be familiar with the 12th Brandenburg Grenadiers from Walther Bloem's world famous book The Advance from Mons 1914. If not, you must read his book, it's an excellent view into the period. (y)(y)

Thanks in advance. John Josef

Hi John Josef,
when were the Iron Cross documents issued? And which company or battalion? Then perhaps we can identify the signed major!?!
A PAASCH is not mentioned in the ranklist 1914 in the regiment's history (I hope I haven't overlooked anything!) (see after page 192):
https://portal.dnb.de/bookviewer/view/1031434178#page/194/mode/1up But he was probably just a reserve officer???
And according to the Militär-Wochenblatt, in the 12th Grenadier Regiment a Fähnrich PAASCH was promoted (22nd of March 1915) to lieutenant (without officier's commission).
In the Ehren-Rangliste 1914/18 der Offiziere (from 1926) lists a first lieutenant (Retired) with the 12th Grenadier Regiment.
Best regards, Jens

He was lightly wounded during the Summer 1916:

And a second time, May 1918:

Hello Philippe,

Thank you so much for taking time to look up this information I greatly appreciate it. I was able to find the information on his wounds but the information on his being awarded of the Kreuz der Ritter des königlichen Hausordens von Hohenzollern mit Schwertern and being Kompanie Fuehrer of the 2. is very new and exciting to me.

Thanks again. (y)(y)
