Hussar Busby M15

Hi all,
i am looking for a M15 Hussar Busby. I can be in lesser condition. ALso looking for the rare covers...

many thanks
Johan
I would like to locate one also
Years ago when I first started to collect
circa 1970 , I saw them often
I had one but let it go
Now I do not see them offered
Steve

same for me, I also had one 20 years ago, I sold it and then never could buy one
You inspired me to take a trip down memory lane .
Here is the way buying and selling was done circa 1969 -1970
A seller would take instant photos , type up a list of helmets for sale
make multiple copies and send them out by mail
This now and where I bought my M1915 H R Busby for $ 185.00 U S Dollars
I might add that from that same list I bought a Hessian L G I R 115 e m helmet
for $195.00 and a Saxon Officers helmet for $ 140
Little did we know where the demand for these helmets would go
and the huge price increases over the years .
I have not been able to replace the M 1915 H R

although I collect haubes now for 30 years, but only 15 years seriously because I was an adolescent and a student before; so didn't have the resources to buy really interesting stuff.. I defenitly stepped in to late to make the big gains...
still; my first haubes I have for over 30 years, are the most ordinary ones, but are precious to me,
a M15 baden
a 1867 kurassier
a Prussian reserve enlisted man:
this particular last one goes with a peculiar story:
when I started as an ENT specialist in the hospital I'm still working in, an anesthesiologist told me his (grand)father had a pickelhaube and he would sell it to me ( if I would cherish and keep it, would not like it if I bought it simply as an investment to resell):
his father ( or grandfather, I'm not sure) was an orphan in a Belgian orphanage, when he left it the only personal belonging he took with him was the haube he had found as an orphan in the building under the roof (probably left there after the first world war).
It's nothing special as a Haube, a simple but beautiful helmet, but I will keep it for ever!, an item not for sale if only out of loyalty to my colleague anesthesiologist
(it's in our holiday home so can't attach a [photo of it)

Steve,
As a European, I’m not familiar with civil war militaria, but being interested in history in general: I would very much like it ifyou could share Some photo’s of the objects

I will be glad to
The South was very poor after our Civil War
The war ended in 1865
The Confederate soldiers were NOT allowed to gather together until
1890 when they had their first reunion .A city was chosen and a date
of 3 or 4 days .All the old veterans would meet in the chosen city .
Parades were held .My group that belonged to James N. Shivers
was kept together by his daughter who went to the reunions with him
These are all of the medals that he wore at the different reunions over the years
The Souther Cross of Honor was awarded to the soldiers by the ladies
of the United Daughters of the Confederacy ( UDC ) after the war
The soldiers were known as the United Confederate Veterans ( UCV )
there is also a thick note binder with lots of original photos that can not be shown
too much material to show
Shivers served under the Command of General N B Forrest who was known as
"The Wizard of the Saddle "thus after the war Shivers was a member of the
"Forrest Cavalry Corp " ( FCC )
the medals that you see him wearing in the photo are part of the collection.James N. Shivers 7th Tenn Cavalry FFC.jpegJames Shivers 7 Tenn Cav F C C.JPG

This is an amazing group Steve, and some great historical info I was not aware of, I hope you find a collector who will keep everything together.

Steve,

You have a wonderful collection of related Confederate Veteran memorabilia. These identified groupings are very difficult to find and I applaud you for keeping it together.

I don't want to wander down a rabbit hole with your post but I collected identified US Civil War items and groupings as well. Actually, I still have them. Just a couple of photographs...

George

George ;
Great group of uniforms
now that you show this group
I must share with you my former
Harry Renee Lee uniform group
all of these were his
with different ranks as he moved up in the UCV
he later became National Commander & Chief of the UCV
BTW
the uniform with hat was later worn by someone to the Grand opening in Atlanta
of the movie "Gone with the Wind " which is now NOT P C
Renee Lee was invited to the White House and I had his photo with Pres. FDR

Wonderful. All of those uniforms are wonder.

Question- what are the snaps for on the collar of one of those uniforms?
