Good morning gentlemen,

I saw this poor helmet come up on Australian ebay listed as a parts helmet and decided to give it some proper care. It came with all the necessary parts minus a wappen so I'm currently working on stitching it back together and trying to locate a wappen with the right patina, enjoy!

Good Luck forward to seeing the finished helmet, thinking of starting on something a little rougher myself so I will watch this with interest

Nice markings and that should go back together quite easily. It should also be fairly easy to find the missing wappen. 👍

Finding wappens is always easy, its finding the RIGHT wappen that always seems to be a trick for me haha I always do my best to match patina whenever I am fixing these.

I can only echo your words Will, after 40 years of collecting and searching for fittings to complete helmets. It can be very frustrating at times. Then there will be the 4-5 times during those years when a missing piece is found and it fits!! Time to light up the sky with fireworks! 😀

What does everyone think of this one? Is the patina a good match or a little too dark?

I have a Plate that would match the color. It's been blackened with amber varnish or something like that, but the color is like your helmet fittings. Just contact me if you are interested.

Hi Sandy,
Could your Wappen be chemically darkened like they did early in the war?
Regards,
Lars
