Gents, another dilemma for a perfectionist like myself:
I'm also being offered an unpolished LACHMANN EM Kurassier dated 1915 (maker is already a major plus) with a very good liner, a very few dings, and not much rust. It also comes with LARGE cockades.
Here are its drawbacks:
> Wrong spike (a regular M15 Inf. Haube spike!!)[this is the major issue]
> Paint on the (large) cockades is worn in many places thus showing the brass underneath; the white rings have been repainted
> 1 loose soldered point underneath one of the 2 rivets holding the top of the lobster tail (where it connects to the back of the helmet shell) [doesn't show much and seems farily easy to fix?]
> and finally a fake liner tie-string [not a big deal but I'm listing all the cons]
Would you buy that Kurassier hoping to find the proper spike one day and repaint the (large) cockades meanwhile?
