Leibgarde-Inf.-Regt. (1. Großherzogl. Hessisches) Nr. 115

The writing is a name and a company number: IHRIG 9/115
Philippe, you amaze me! Thank you so much for researching and sharing this information. I would never have believed this helmet could be traced to the man to whom it was issued. I have Googled the name and discovered another possible connection. A Heinrich Ihrig from Stierbach i. O. (im Odenwaldkreis?) Hesse received the Goldenes Ehrenzeichen der NSDAP on 1 August 1928. It could well be the same man.

How may I obtain high resolution scans of the relevant Verlustlisten pages?

Many, many thanks!

Chas, here are the high resolution scans:

If this is the same guy with the Ehrenzeichen der NSDAP, I would not bet on it...
Because there are about 15 other guys with the same name Heinrich IHRIG who are listed in the Verlustlisten in 25 mentions. But even only one guy in the 9/115 with two mentions

Thank you, Philippe. :D

To be honest, I would rather not know if our Heinrich measured up to the Nazi "gold standard."

:bravo:
