M15 Prussian Pickelhaube- J.R. 156

A very common enlisted wartime helmet, and just the way I like them! The oval makers stamping inside rear dome area is CARL SCHNIEDER, BRIEG and is dated 1915. The grommets/holes for wappen placement have not been altered and there are no extra holes. Both leather wedges are in place. I chose not to undo the original leather lace to flip the liner over for those pictures. On the underside of the rear neck guard/visor is stamped J.R. 156 1916 III. B. and size stamped 54. It has good form and tight stitching. The original chinstrap was fully extended when I received it, so I adjusted it a bit to rest on top of the front visor.

A very nice M15, and well marked too! Usually M15's are not so well marked, preventing the allies to see which regiment they were up against.
(if the helmet would be found/captured)
Congratulations!

Regards, Coert.

I own one from this regiment. It fought in August 1914, in the Longwy region, on the Franco-Belgian border. Mine has been modified to M15 specifications and bears a second regimental marking, that of the 23rd LIR (Landwehr). Both regiments were from Upper Silesia.P1010664.JPGP1010665.JPGP1010671.JPGP1010673.JPGThey both bear the same hallmark and the same date!
