Hi to everyone,
I'm a newby here, and first of all I introduce myself....
My name is Giorgio and Iive in Turin, Northern Italy.
I have been collecting German WW2 material for 30 years now, mainly shirmmützen
but during all this time I have always looked at the pickelaubes with interest even if I have never penetrated precisely because of the complexity/vastness of the matter ... it is truly another universe.....
However not long ago I decided to get one and I would like to share my new purchase with this forum with the specific intent to know and learn more about these wonderful objects, logically as well as having your valued opinions.
We're talking about a Prussian pickelhaube, officer, private purchase, pionier.....
I've been told mod. 1871/99 but I'm still having trouble recognizing the patterns (forgive me..))
but I have also seen on the texts that it could be around 1914 ut for what reason it is not specified
I would say that it is a nice piece and everything seems in order except for two details which I do not know how to evaluate the importance and the impact on the value of the piece.
The first is the officer's star on the back which looks slightly different so I could think of a replacement. In the field of collectors is this accepted?
The second is about the marks left by the screws in the inner top plate.
Surely sometimes the owner provided to tighten them when they loosened .... but, is it always accepted in the field of collectors?
Ok... really thanks for your time and for all the explanations you'll kindly give me and all my best from Turin
