My first pickelhaube

That will be a tough Landwehr cross to find Mike. I have seen one or two loose ones, bid on them and got my butt kicked, but I'll keep my eyes open for you and let you know if I see another. T

Hey , thank's Tony! that's nice of you. It does bug me a bit and you can see where someone filled the holes. But it's a nice helmet.

I did find a Baden reserve cross a couple years back but unfortunately it's no good for this helmet. I got a shock when I recieved it as I bought it sight unseen and the dealer did not really know much about it, I knew it was broken but I wasn't expecting it to be from Rgt.109 with the star underneath the cross......shame she got her wing's clipped.....

And here's a question....what would you guy's do with this plate? I have a small plate collection, { No, not the transparent dinner plate's we have. Transparent so you can still see the Telly while you're licking the plate clean - ya get me?} and this is a rare one but it's a bit knackered as you can see.

Just me Mike, but I would keep it. Those are real rare and someone is going to need one someday. Recently there was a wonderful 115 officer missing the star. Sebastian snapped it up so fast I am sure he has one.

When you do find the proper cross. The next question is what are you going to do with it? It took me about two years to find one of these and I cannot see the holes for it. Will you post a close-up please? You will probably have to solder on prongs, and there seem to be three positions for Baden crosses. You have a good dilemma on your hands! Something within reach, that you can affect!

Here's a close -up, Joe. You can see where the holes have been filled with some thin copper rod:

I'll keep looking...........and I might clean up the 109 plate a bit....
