Here is an odd one....does anyone know what this is off of?

It looks like a standard Württemberg helmet Wappen at first, but there are some significant differences. The center shield is round, while on the standard military version it is shaped like a Police badge with a point on the bottom and the two top corners. The standard military one, has oak leaves behind the Bandeau, this one does not. The oak leaves on the standard one breakes the motto into three pieces, this one has one continuous ribbon. And most odd, the the ribbon for the Bandeau comes down well below the motto. (?) And the horns on the stag are voided as on a private-purchase, but the crown on the lion and on the top of the Wappen are not. (?)

Does anyone know what this is off of? Tony

Short answer is no however, this struck my interest and I looked through the entire 1932 junkers catalog -- nothing.

I looked at my 1903 catalog which has every conceivable fatherland kitsch albeit primarily Prussian -- nothing

In the Wurrtemberg book on page 114 is the closest I was able to come -- it's off by one of the kids helmets that is pictured -- that is all I found so far.

Thanks for playing along Joe. It's too large to be off a Kinderhelm. Anyone else?

just thought i would ask any different mounting lug's on back? Also look's bronze or Pickled brass.
Would it be for Police or Custum's?

Well, I think I know what it is off of, probably a gate! It appears to have been made for a restoration of a government heritage building of some sort in Württemberg, as it is not that old, but carries a serial #. It is quite
heavy being cast metal, and has three very large bolts on the reverse to bolt it onto a gate or wall. It measures a whopping 20 inches from side to side and the same vertically. As Württemberg is one of my favorite kingdoms, I was absolutely delighted to score this. :love10:

Arrrrgh!! A gate or wall plaque! I was completely fooled. Congrats! I would love to have that on my wall. It is huge and obviously very well made. Good post T! Brian

Hi Tony

I was fooled too, but I searched....and look at the bottom of the page there:

It is not a gate emblem....!

PS: Joe, your site is a gold mine !
