Dear friends,
does anybody know when the special 5 cm cockade in old Hessian style was introduced for the officers of the mentioned regiment? Today I looked for detailed information about it in a regimental history, in Lacarde, P. Pietsch and the book „The German cavalry“ published by Militaria.at, but I found only the information that officers wore such a cockade, but not since when.
I found the diameter of 5 cm in the clothing regulations from 1896. In the draft edition of 1895 it was only mentioned a cockade in old Hessian style, but no other diameter than 65 mm for metal helmets. I didn't find anything about it in the army regulations from 1890 to 1897 either.
So any further information is welcome. Thank you very much for your help
