Karel, Super helmet! A new one for me as well.
Philippe, my Saxon M15 also has very dark gray on it. Maybe that would be something to discuss as well.

Congratulations on a rare and beautiful helmet.
I have one helmet with chemically darkened brass, but the fittings are not near that black.
Since the parts are magnetic is there a possibility that they were treated with "Gun Blue"?
The fittings appear to be as blackened as a rifle barrel, and I have heard that this chemical treatment was used on some M15's.
Very rare and unusual.
