Paper/Cardboard ersatz pickelhauben

I am making this thread dedicated to my favorite ersatz pickelhauben. Some people refer to them as paper ersatz or even paper maché. Others call them cardboard. Whichever the name, they fascinate me as a substitute material for pickelhauben. Out of all the ersatz materials for them, I have the hardest time finding information on cardboard ersatz. I’ll will share and go into detail the ones in my collection and I welcome any input and information regarding them. Cheers!View attachment 57807
Andy:

Thanks for this.

I have a Depehag officers helmet but I've never encountered one of these "cardboard" helmets. It's an interesting topic.

Here's my contribution and the only one I own.....
It's a one press piece with no rear spine or visor support. It has been treated with a black coloured covering and then painted field grey all over. the inside was left untreated I have tried to capture the helmets key features. I have left the helmet untouched as i got it.

Cheers 🍻 Tony 20250617_193149.jpg20250617_193152.jpg20250617_193202.jpg20250617_193203.jpg20250617_193216.jpg20250617_193244.jpg20250617_193220.jpg20250617_193228.jpg20250617_193245.jpg

Thanks for posting this one! I like these ersatz examples a lot! And this one looks great indeed, a time-traveler from many, many years ago.
And still in a great condition!

The spike looks slightly off to me. Is this possibly one of those British reproductions?

There was a helmet with a similar spike that was determined to be a British reproduction making its way around the internet about 2 years ago. Hopefully this isn't the case.
