I have been to the Wehrgeschichtlichesmuseum at Rastatt about 40 times. I went every month from 1981 to 1984 and have been back every time I visit Deutschland. I have stood with my face pressed against the glass 6 inches from items I can only dream of. The quality of everything is unbelievable. I knew the retired Museumsleter Herrn Colonel Schmidt and had the pleasure of a visit from him in Calgary in 1993. On my last visit to Schloss Rastatt in 2004, I said to the ticket lady (in German) when she asked why I was visiting that I had a little web site called "Kaiser's Bunker" and a man rolled out of his office in a chair and said (in German) "I know this site!". It was Herrn Böhm the Museumsleterhe and he gave me a two hour tour. I was interested in seeing an issued Waffenrock from the Franco-Preußen war, but sadly, of the 2000+ Waffenrock in Rastatt, none to show. So after two hours, I finally got stuck on a word, and he said to me in perfect English; "the word you want is......" I was floored. Here I had been struggling for two hours auf deutsch and he spoke perfect English. He said: "I did 3 years at Ft Knox USA as an exchange Colonel, but you were doing fine, so why speak English?"
