Hello and welcome!
Well, first, what is your own opinion about this helmet? Did you check the existing documentation, of which there is no shortage? How about the abundant information available on this forum? This is what you should do first as a beginner. Make your own idea.
Then, of course, always happy to help, confirm, further document if possible...

Thank you,
So I should also make my part of the homework,
I do agreee with that,
so here are the results of my first searches :
it's a M1895 model for a prussian officer,
At the other hand I need some rather quick pieces of infos, in my current situation, and as a beginner.
that's why I choose to get member of this forum,
Thank you for your comprehension.

Good start.

Very interesting, thank you.
So it's a dragon officer, but not necessarly the DR14, isn't it, it could be from evry other prussian dragon regiment yes ?

except that some plates are of specific models for specific regiments, which doesn't seem to be the case for this one

This is a Prussian Dragoon Officer helmet, post-1897, and could very well belong to DR14.
Beautiful piece.
By the way --- the homework never ends.

John

Hello,

For my humble opinion, it is a post war helmet, because of the leather liner with holes.
Such helmets were still worn by old officers after the war during ceremonies in the 20ies and 30ies.

My impression has also been that the sweatband with holes like this piece is post war. However, this is still a very nice example of a Prussian Dragoon Officer Pickelhaube. DR 14 did not have any unique distinction on its helmets neither did DR 7,8,11,13 etc so this piece could also have come from any one of these Regiments as well. DR 14 also wore a black horse hair plume when on parade as did many DR regiments.

This pickelhaube dates from 1909.Please see the number on the D.R.P.

Well, I stand corrected, that is a new one on me. However, I also have never seen that embossed patent mark before.

Well that is sure very interesting information .
# 215452 is in the series for 1909
My question is ; If you will share ; Where did your information come from ?
Thanks if you will share .
A nice helmet
Most of us collectors do not get that nice of a helmet on our first try .

You are so right. When I started, I bought the an ordinary looking prussian ors

Hello,
A few small details:
It is indeed a Prussian Dragon officer's helmet "with gilded brass fittings". The helmets of officers being of private purchase, they are never regimented (unlike those of troops which belonged to the army). So apart from the name of its bearer, we cannot know which regiment was, the DR14 is possible ... like other ... Prussians ... gilded with the standard dragon eagle.

The vintages of the models are less numerous among the officers than for the troops. Here it is the model 1871, (rosettes with welded pawls) because it has never been modified thereafter. The high point confirms the date of the patent, which is fashionable after 1900, the same for the silk headdress which only appeared around 1885.
