Questions about a Prussian officer parade tunic

Steve,

Thank you very much for finding these photos, I have added them to my own archives. Same to me I cannot really tell if its the same tunic or not, however I see some white and silver dots on the tunic collar braid of Mike's, that looks like some minor damages to me. But these are not found on the tunic you posted. Or that may just be lighting issues with photos. It's also not surprising that crown prince have many tunics of a single regiment for regular wear, we see a lot of photos showing him wearing the KR2 uniforms. They are both very beautiful Kollers.

I like the one for sure that my friend had
2 factors
1. The rank of Col
2. the loops for medals ( we can't tell if Mike's has loops as the kurass covers the koller )

If of interest to you
somewhere I also have photos of the Parade Attila of Carl Edward as a General in H R 9
my friend owned it
then later I owned it
it is now in the Sanders collection and shown in his Husaren books
also the Waffenrock of Max of Baden for D R 20

I think the loops are standard for all the tunics of crown prince? (Undress uniforms not included)

I have the Waffenrock of Prince Adelbert for Grenadier Regt 4
and there are many medal looks
also years ago I had the Waffenrock of Fred of Baden
as Chef of the Baden L G R 109
there were so many loops I could not understand
how all the medals would display on it

Steve,

From the photos I have seen and collected, these loops are not meant to be used at one time.
There must be a system for the loops depending on the wearer's habit, and the number of orders/decorations he have. And also these loops must be able to hang all the orders that are usually required to be worn by the wearer on important occasions. For crown prince, he usually wear one to two breast stars with a medal bar.

The Koller is astounding, but that KR2 1842 Metalhelm! Wonderful. A dream helmet for me, only to be seen with my face pressed against glass in Rastatt, never to be held with my hands here. A true pleasure to see. Thank you for showing that.

Just for you
I have known this collector since about 1970
over the years due to factors he has changed directions in a major way
two different times
At one time one of the best collections in the USA in it's form
Officers only ; rare regiments and condition
first change was to sell all of his Infantry helmets
I was able to get 1st choice and I bought some very nice helmets
then it was all Cavalry helmets
you should have seen his Uhlan officers , all to parade
then Prussian Cavalry Garde officers only
on a visit when we did a deal
I was allowed to remove each of his helmets and take photos of them
Here is the early K R 2 officer for you

It took me a while but I finally located the photos
of the K R 2 Koller when it was in the collection of my friend .
It's hard to tell but it looks like the same one to me .
Mike has the kurass over it
and my friend didn't
both show the ringkragen
but Mike has it a trophy on the kurass
one thing is for sure
the epaulettes are NOT the same
Mike looks like a Rittmeister
and my friend had the rank of Major
I ended up with only the framed & autographed
photo of C P Wilhelm only
I still have it
What do you think ?
