Rauppenhelm

[MG34NZ]

This is well out of my field of interest or expertise,and not really the era I collect (I’m more WW1), it’s a Bavarian Rauppenhelm, that much I know. I somehow now own it and should pick it up this weekend. Is it good, bad, indifferent?

I collected the helmet today, pictures attached. One brass strip is missing and the caterpillar is detached.
How was the caterpillar top fixed to the helmet?

A very nice Raupenhelm! Discription says Wollraupe/Wool.
-As this part has no leather.. Would it be OK to wrap the Raupe/caterpillar in a plastic bag and put it in the freeezzzzer for 48 Hours??? [Killing the little beasts]. But. . Second thought...better not: as the stitches might snap?
-The "Hupe" [above the Kokarde] is missing.

In all honesty, this helmet does not fit with my collection, I’m more interested in WW1 era items.
It’s an interesting helmet all the same and the only one I have seen personally.
If there’s an interested collector out there with a camo helmet or interesting pickelhaube I may be interested in a trade.
