Hi,

I am looking for the regimental history of IR 75. But even more specifically for information on their actions in August and september 1914.
Is there anyone who could assist with that please?

Hi,

Unfortunately is this Regimentsgeschichte not online available and however is this book very very brief...

I you are understanding french, I recommend you this book:

I bought it, because I wanted myself to retrace the events experienced by the first wearer of my named helmet, the OYV Gefreiter Robert Reinberg from the 3/JR75, the "Caspari Kompagnie", named to his famous Kommandeur (Reinbergs nametag has been later partially torn off, probably by the second wearer who did not add his name in the helmet). Reinberg has been seriously wounded on the 20.9.14 during the fighting at Nampcel. He started his one year duty September or October 1913. He would have finished it September 1914, but by beginning of war, he was sent to the front. He probably promoted to the rank of Gefreiter Mars or April 1914, after 5-6 months of duty, as was generally the case for these recruits. This book is very complete for the first war months.

Thanks Philippe. Am I seeing that correctly that they want 360 for it? That's quite a number..

I have a Haube of the regiment from the same year and also with the double regimental mark. Any idea why that was done?

Hi,
Sorry for the "expensive" link. I just put the first link I saw but you will find this book easily for 30-40 €.
There are no double markings on our helmets. The superior mark is the unit marking J.R.75 and the one under is for the first Bataillon: I.B.75
Look at the "J" of JR75 and at the "I" of IB75. They are quite different. Those markings are typical for this unit, I saw other ones similar on other helmets of the JR75.
By the way, you helmet is looking very fine with a beautiful gilt finish of the Wappen. The wearer was a Portepee Unteroffizier (Vizefeldwebel or Feldwebel). Do you see a name in the shell? Does your helmet also show on the other side the Reich Portepee cockade?

Now I see it indeed. The J and I are different. :)

Thank you for the nice comment. There aren't any markings or references to a previous owner to research unfortunately. I bought the helmet about 10 years ago from Karel van Bosstraeten. There was no Reickskokarde back then and I must say I never added one.
