At my age I no longer take helmets apart
My friend that I bought it from has forgotten more about helmets than
I will ever know
My trust in him is 150 %
If I were to drop the plate it would be too bad ; so sad
I have arthritis and lose of feelings in my hands

Hi Steve,
the reason i asked pictures of the reverse is not because i don't trust in its authenticity; but because i have never had this type of helmets in my hands. So i am curious about details of manufacture.

When I owned other Saxon Generals in years past (pre1992 )
I did remove the front plate and inspect them
from memory I can tell you that each piece is separate
several rings all held down with lots of prongs that bend back and hold each piece in place
there is something between the prongs and where they bend back
I wish that I could better help you

That is an outstanding helmet Steve - just gorgeous! I like the Saxon aesthetic a lot, and IMO the Saxon general officers' helmets are about the most beautiful of Imperial German headgear. Yours being ID'ed makes it even better!

The quality of that thing is staggering, Steve! My wife's Great-Great Grandpa was in the Saxon army from 1909-1918, so maybe he saw this helmet in person during a troop review. Who knows!
