Downsizing some helmets from my collection.

Offered for sale is a very nice looking, unmarked J. Bambus & Company pickelhaube. Helmet comes with a very unusual ersatz chinstrap. I believe it is made from felt and it has a coated finish on the outer side of the strap. Nice pigskin leather liner that is flexible. The stitching on the liner has come loose in the forehead area of the helmet.

Here is the link to the original discussion on this helmet:

The above photo shows how the liner is loose in the forehead area, as the stitching has broken in this area.

The below photo shows how the liner looks with it pulled back into place, as it would have looked if the stitching was still tight and intact in the forehead area of this helmet.

Any interest here in this ersatz felt helmet?

Would anyone like to make an offer?

Would anyone like to share their thoughts, or leave some feedback on this felt helmet?

Surely someone here would like to add this ersatz felt helmet to their collection?

Best Wishes,

Alan

The liner Does Not have the "J. Bambus & Co." Logo. I suspect this is because of the nature of the pigskin liner inside this helmet. Pigskin leather has a rough, pebbled surface texture to the leather. I have searched for the maker logo on both the right and left side of the helmet. Unfortunately, I cannot see any trace of a maker logo on the pigskin leather. I suspect there was never any maker logo placed onto the pigskin liner of this helmet, which by all appearance, seems to be one of the distinct examples which the J. Bambus & Company manufactured, because the rolled, stitched edge of the helmet body. I realize there are also other examples of this rolled and stitched rim or folded over and stitched edge on the felt helmet body helmets that exist out there which have no J. Bambus and Company maker logo stamped into the smooth leather liners.

Best Wishes,

Alan
