Offered for sale is a nice condition M15 Prussian Guard Ulan Wappen or Front Plate for a tschapka.

The star is missing from this otherwise nice wappen, as is with most of these M15 Guard Ulan Wappens.

Both original wire loops are intact.

This wappen is from the doughboy trunk hoard of kokardes and other Imperial German goodies that came up for sale in February of 2020.

Price: $175.00 or "Best Offer" plus postage.

Payment via PayPal is o.k., with "friends and family" preferred.

USA Postage: $6.00 via US Postal Service "Ground Select" with tracking, safely mailed in a large bubble pack envelope with padded protection around wappen.

Canada Postage: $21.00 via US Postal Service 1st Class International Mail Parcel with Tracking, mailed in a large bubble pack envelope...

Any interest here for this nice Ulan M15 Wappen?
This one intrigues me, but I am currently looking at few rare Napoleonic Buttons from the Artillery Train of French Imperial Guard at the moment. I love wartime wappens, so I'll definitely consider if I don't end up purchasing the buttons instead!

The Weitze update of July 19, 2024, has two of these listed for sale. Neither of them are in as nice of condition as this example that I have for sale here. Weitze has one priced at 250 Euros ($272 US Dollars), and the second example priced at 200 Euros ($218 US Dollars).

530 Looks at this item, with zero interest?

I must confess I think at least 50 of those looks are mine ;)

I'm really interested and think it's a great deal, the only reason I havent jumped on it is I think the odds of me finding a star to complete it are 1 in a million.

I have a nice issued and a bit rusty one in my collection that's also missing the star that I picked up at a flea market many years ago and still no star.

You see so many Bond sale Uhlans without the stars which make me think that they were not issued with the star.
I have a star on mine but i was lucky to find one on Germany ebay but it is the standard sized star for the m-15 gray Garde plate and it looks fine.

Great looking helmet Steve.

In my humble opinion, "I think it's "the exception", if these Guard Ulan M15 Wappens do show up with a guard star on them. I have simply only ever seen a handful of these so-called "M15 Guard Ulan Tschapkas" ever having the guard star still on the wappen.

It makes me literally wonder if someone simply took a star from an M15 Infantry Guard Helmet Wappen, and placed it on a M15 Guard Ulan wappen in order to make it look "complete". It is very difficult to say for certain or not, and to tell if they originally came with a star and simply lost the star over the ages. It's simply my opinion, and likely not worth much.

Why else would we see only this particular wappen, the "M15 Guard Ulan Wappen" far more times without the guard star, compared to the very few we ever actually see with a guard star actually on the wappen?

I've actually owned 3-of these wartime enlisted "guard ulan" tschapkas with the removable mortarboard. None of them had a guard star on the wappen. And the reverse side of each of the wappen on those helmets Never had any sign of them formerly having a guard star on the wappen.

Just my two cent's worth opinion, as I'm no expert.

Best Wishes,

Alan

Thanks for posting this Matthew!
