"Take the Crimea...

Chas,

I need to do some research on Storey.

As far I know, all of the Turkish Crimea Medals were issued with this type of suspension. I don't think these have been touched for the past 150 years or so. Some photos in these links.

It appears that, as this is an original British issue medal (many medals lost at sea and replaced by French or Sardinian medals), with the original ring clasp ( many replaced with stronger English clasps), and what appears to be the official Roman type inscription, this is indeed a rare medal and a rare set.

Hi Mike:

The Fitzwilliam Museum medal has been altered, but the notes from the royal engineers site provide the answer.

Thanks, mate! :thumb up:

Bonjour Eric:

Thank you for sharing the splendid miniatures. The single ribbon for both the Légion d' Honneur and Crimea Medal would indicate this combination was bestowed regularly.

What can you tell me about the Napoleon III medal for the Mexican Expedition? Did these belong to a single veteran?

Regards,

Chas.

Hi Chas

The Mexican medal would have been awarded alone or mounted on a bar with these kinds of small others (military medal, Italy Campaign medal,....)
