The Kaiser’s Prize (Kaiserschiessabzeichen)

Why the Kaiser crown and the kings crown? Are the kings crown for Saxony or other kingdoms? if its explained in this thread I missed it.
„Kaiser Schießabzeichen“ und „Königs Schießabzeichen“ were different competitions. They were named after the founder. Even though the King of Prussia was also the German Emperor, there was a strict distinction between his acting as Emperor or as King.

Found this picture on the internet. Assume it is for the Shooting School.

This is a great thread, thanks for all of the information, everyone!

My Kaiser and King Jager and Machine Gun prizes were update today .
A couple of the Saxon Jagers have red fabric behind the crowns and under the eyes.
I am very pleased with my Saxon Machine Gun prizes.
They were only awarded 4 years .I have 3 of the years.
I am missing 1905

What a wonderful collection. I can see how these are so addictive. Always looking for that elusive date or date combination. You should post all of your lanyards also or start a separate thread.

I just update my Kaiser & King Artillery prizes.
I see that my Kaiser 1912 ; 1913 and 1914 were made & stamped by "CEJ "
Interesting that the 1914 is made for extra dates
while 1913 for the most part was the last year .

The double date Kaiser Artillery for 1905 / 06 was won by Prussian FAR 4 / 5 B
The double date Kaiser Artillery for 1907/09 was won by Prussian 1 Garde / L B
In checking , I could only see about 9 FAR units that might have double date Kaiser Prizes

Once a year between 1901 and 1913 the regiments that the Kaiser
was Honorary Chef of held a shooting contest
Only 1 Kp from the regiment would be the winner .
Each enlisted man in the Kp won a shooting cord of yellow /golden
material of a wool like finish .At the end of the cord is the Reich's Crown
The Hauptman of the Kp was awarded a longer cord of gold like metallic threads with the Reich's crown at the end
so over the 13 years there were only 13 of these won
the Lt and 2nd Lt of the Kp were given a shorter gold color metallic cord with the Reich's crown at the end
so maybe 26 of these given ot over the years
I have had 2 of the enlisted cords in my collection for some time
I was just able to add one for an officer to the collection .
Since it is the only one that I have been able to hold in person
I am not sure which length it is
All that I know is that when displayed with the enlisted it is longer
The only regiment / Kp that won the award 2 years in a row was the Hessian I R 116 / 1 Kp
they got a special cord which I do not have Kaiser units officer shooting cord.jpgOfficer cord Kaiser regiments.JPGKaiser regiments officer and e m shooting cords McFarland collection May 11 2024.JPGKaiser Regt 116 shooting cord.png
