Well, I tried fooling around with the photo, but I still can't make out what the arm band says. It has the crown and below that is an eagle and then there appears to be three lines of text, but I can't read them.

That was my first thought, but I wasn't sure enough to say so. I just don't know.

I thought all members of this "corps" were officers. This kid has enlisted straps and cap cockades.

I do not know about the collar. But the hat insignia looks to be Waffenmeister. :guns:

Thanks Joe. That would certainly make sense - but I can't recall actually seeing a Waffenmeister-Abzeichen before.

Didn't such a device appear on Pickelhaube plates, too?
It may be in the Stubbs book, but I'm not sure.

Yes, Unter-Beamte such as the Waffenmeister wore the "Wappenschild" on the helmet whereas the Obere-Beamte wore the small eagle (In Prussia).
