Here are two very nice M1871/1887 conversion helmets for Prussia and Baden.

Prussian is nicely marked 1886 and to IR25
Enjoy

Fine pair !
Question: do you have some detailed pictures of the sideposts. Attachement, Kokarden, helmet shell. Thank you !

Francis

I looked at this before work this morning (at work) and the photos didn't come up, which is a common problem there. NOW I can see the photos. Very nice! :)

Very cool helmets, James =D>

Does the spike of the Baden one unscrew? It´s looking like that on the inside view of both helmets.
The JR25 should not at this period. Only by AKO of the 16.6.1913, a Haarbusch was allowed for this unit.

Very nice James! I was just wondering why you would name these "conversion" helmets? Do you have evidence these are re-vamped 71 models? I assume that most 87 models were made as new helmets.

Great questions guy's.

Bruno- just going by what most people call them, the one helmet is early dated, so a conversion, other one???

Philippe- the Baden spike does unscrew, and the Prussian one does not!!

Francis- I will try and take some close up pictures when I get a chance.

thanks guys

James

Well James, you know now that you probably have a beautiful M87 GR110 helmet there :bravo: (only LGR109 and GR110 were allowed to wear the Haarbusch).
And because a new helmet with white fittings was introduced 1885 for the LGR109.

But if this helmet really is a M71 reconverted into a M87, then you could also have here an old M71 LGR109 helmet that was converted in a new M87 GR110 helmet
Since 1867 and before 1885, both units, the first badisches JR (later LGR109) and the second badisches JR (later GR110) had brass fittings.
