Uhlan - Real or Fake?

I do like the 1867 model with bigger mortar board very much and they are much harder to find as they served in the francoprussian war it is another era, but indeed less sought after,I’m happy to own both models.

if have one in less then perfect condition, but look at the details in the wappen , is the wappen on your helmet in high resolution doesn’t look like that I would not trust it… but if original with parade items the mentioned price is a bargain to say the least

Years ago we had Militaria shows, but they are gone now. Some sellers used to remove the grey from wartime helmets because it “looked better”. I always had a magnet in my pocket, and if the magnet stuck, it was steel that had been cleaned up. Magnets will not stick to nickel silver.

Hello,
Overall, a beautiful Tschapka. Everything appears correct.
Two points, however:
---This Tschapka is the M1867 model for enlisted Ulans. (The side of the face should be 16cm). Since the crown of the frontal eagle is openwork, it is therefore an officer's eagle or possibly a privately purchased "fantasy" version.
---The Reichskokarde only appeared in 1897. However, since 1894, "Kammer" Tschapkas for enlisted men were equipped with a side post for the M91 chinstrap with domed scales. Therefore, according to regulations, this unmodified M67 Tschapka (face reduced to 14.5cm) should not have a cockade, but just the Feldzeichen (field insignia). It could therefore be an old, fanciful Tschapka, but not regulation in this configuration. In fact, it would be better to remove this cockade altogether.

What is the name of the wire hook that goes on top which is missing and where could I get one?
For attaching the Fangschnur-You have the "Knebel"/toggle [wood on a leather strap] on top. You do not need the metal "Fangschnur Haken" (Officers Tschapka)...

A good tip on "Hauben Terminology" German-English. The Weitze Website has the discriptions of their items in German...and you can select "English"...
