Hallo
KS98 und 98/05a.A.

Hello, and welcome, Chris.

I wish to remind you that this is an English-language forum.

There are many here who speak other languages as their primary language, and all are welcome here. It's best to write in English, however, since as mentioned, this is an English-language forum.

Best Wishes,

Alan

Hello Chris,

welcome - I am German too, but keep in mind this is a Canadian forum so you should adapt. No problem in 2026 to use translation apps. I know you have interesting stuff to show, so if you need help I will.

Cheers Peter

Translations:

Hello, I'd like to briefly introduce myself. My name is Chris, I'm from Germany, and I've been collecting German military memorabilia for 50 years. For about 10 years now, I've been obsessed with spiked helmets. I currently have 52 of them. I like the M15 field gray ones best. Pictures will follow soon. Greetings, Chris

Hi, just a quick bit about me. My first spiked helmet was an artillery helmet for a one-year volunteer from Artillery Regiment No. 57 (a special issue item) from a flea market. Actually, I collect German bayonets up to 1930: KS98 and 98/05a.A., and Säge bayonets up to 1913. I also collect belt buckles up to 1918, and I have M16 steel helmets in my collection as well. Cheers, Chris

Hi Coert, yes, the M15 team helmets are somehow the best. I'm still missing a Hessian and a Mecklenburgian. But they'll come eventually. Cheers, Chris

Hi Alan, I know that. But my written English isn't very good. I also have the language set to automatic translation. Regards, Chris

I know not seeing something in English can be frustrating but I don't think we should discourage others from posting in their language if they find it difficult to translate. I use Google Chrome as my browser and all I do is elect the text and right click and press translate to English and I instantly see what they posted. It is nice if non-English speakers could translate beforehand but I would hate to lose potential members just over language. That said, I am not the moderator or manager of this site. - and this is ultimately Brian's area.

Just my thoughts.

I fully agree with you Peter, for me, being a Dutch member, the German language, or the French language isn't a problem at all.
As I come from a German heritage, and also had a French girlfriend, it is no problem at all.
Most European's also had those languages to learn at school, at least, I have.

Regards, Coert.
