To clean the adler I used dishwashing liquid mixed with a chemical used to clean the facades of buildings.

Nice! You also get the exact same result with, simply, lemon juice (not as good for cleaning building facades though).
Interesting. Do you dilute the lemon juice, or mix it with anything?

Use it straight, from freshly squeezed lemons (not the bottled juice you buy at the store). Use a very soft toothbrush. Rinse liberally with tap water. It makes wonders, and respects the finish 100%. Ideal if you are cleaning mat silvered or gilt plates, for instance.
