What did you make to believe they were not hard to replace? These ww1 totenkopf caps are among the most searched items ( and very appealing) in our domain… would like one of those…
 
Back 35plus years ago these seemed to come up more often…. Maybe I was an optimist back then.. IDK. I paid $200 for the Prussian and $500 for the Brunswick way, way back….
 
Those were the days.. unfortunatily whereas I am already collecting more than 35 years, as a teenager, student , young father, it is only some 20 years I am able to buy more interesting things

Well, when the older generation, like me, passes away, it will undoubtedly be a blessing for the younger collectors. However, I am concerned about the state of the world and its potential negative impact on the collecting community. Therefore, I am not entirely optimistic about the future of collecting.

I’m concerned that the number of collectors will be much lower in the future than it is today. The cost of living has increased significantly, and the world—and people’s priorities—have changed since COVID.
 
I do tend to disagree on this, military history remains popular, and especially the Great War does get a lot of attention, of course the centenary did play a role, but for instance at Rossignol where a terrible battle was in August 1914 has a newly opened visitor centre, and near our house in Holland a newly built visitor centre will be opened in October to remember the sacrifices of f the battle of the Schelde, next to the commonwealth cemetery’s.
like other members I do regret new war museums tend to focus on multimedia experiences in stead of showing collections,
In my opinion nothing can beat seeing the real artifacts
I do think collecting will remain popular, and with the World Wide Web items for sale can reach a much larger market
