WW1 Regimental flags

Here is a Telegraph Batl Fahnentrager photo that I did not remember
that I had. No information on the back
except that the photographer was in Munster
So maybe the same flag?

Hello Steve,

Thanks for sharing this great photo! Yes, there is a good chance that it's the same flag as the one in my photo. In this photo, you can see clearly the sleeve insignia of the Fahnenträger. (y)

A few years ago I owned this flag.
Over the years ,into the time of the new Army
when the old flags were still trooped, the flag had
faded and was "netted "
It also had been taken by the Russians
It came out of Russia on the original pole
with the 1870 Iron Cross pole top and the unit ring
and the silver ring when K W II had the new flag awarded

I R 94 / IV Batl
I think I posted this photo in another section sometime back.
I wanted to add it the WWI flag thread
Looking at the photo again, I noticed that the pole top is a cyphered one.
so, this has to be the IV Batl. The other 3 Batls had 1870 Iron Cross pole tops
The flag for I R 94 / IV B as given in 1894.
It is too bad that there was not a better shot of the flag
as it is a flag that had 2 different sides.
Glenn provided me with this information about the officer.
We note that the Fahnentrager has already been awarded the Iron Cross

What is the story behind these Flags and Standards taken to Russia after WWII; then; decades later...found their way back to West???

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your contribution to my post with all these images of splendid items.

So you owned this flag! GREAT acquisition you had. It seems exceptional that such a trophy came out of Russia. Can you tell us more about it?

Wonderfull Steve.😍😍😍
-A question: isn't there one on WEITZE.de??? Kürassier Regiment "Königin" (Pommersches) Nr.2??
Francis
It has been sometime since I looked at that on Weitze
I think that you are asking about the Sakular Parade Banner
that he calls K R 2 ??
If that is what you ask, I can tell you that I looked up that banner
and from what I remember there were more than one regiment
raised on that same date .
So, it could one of several
then call it what you want to
since K R 2 is more of a "special regiment "
then call it K R 2 , but no way to prove

Any part of Germany where the Russians advanced and there were flags located
the Russians took them back to Moscow. At the end of WWII all German flags
were trooped in their Victory Parade. At the end of the parade tossed into a pile.
Then stored in the basement of the museum.
After the fall of the Soviet Union an American was able to deal with the Russian
museum and pay for things they needed.
As payment to him, he was allowed into the basement and was given X amount
of time to select flags and bring out.
There as going to be a book on Imperial flags by Neil Stewart of Tiger Books III
Neil came here and spent 2- and 1/2-days doing photos with a professional
photographer. The story of the flags out of Russia as to be told in the book.
However, the project as ever completed.
As news got around, the story was that the Russians were unhappy about the flag deal.
It was rumored that if the American were ever to return to Russia, he
might not make it back out.
I doubt that anymore flags will make it out of Russia.

No, I never owned the H R 4 flag
I was just lucky to know a collector friend who
shared the photos with me
I do have flags, but not this one
It is in a private collection in Germany
