Steve
Steve, of course the flag oath picture is from the IR145! 😇

Henk
Sorry to say , it looks like the book project by Neil
will now not happen
Jens was in touch with the German who was going to have
a part in the book
I think they talked, and Jens offered to help
but I am not sure there was any progress
Steve
... unfortunately I haven't heard anything more about the project, so I don't know anything more about it!

And here are a few more pictures of flags.
;) Best reagrds, Jens

Francis
It has been sometime since I looked at that on Weitze
I think that you are asking about the Sakular Parade Banner
that he calls K R 2 ??
If that is what you ask, I can tell you that I looked up that banner
and from what I remember there were more than one regiment
raised on that same date .
So, it could one of several
then call it what you want to
since K R 2 is more of a "special regiment "
then call it K R 2 , but no way to prove
Steve
Possible Kürassier-Regimenter Nr.2, Nr.3, Nr.4, Nr.5 and Dragoner-Regiment Nr.1.
All founded in 1717 and got 1835 this Banners.

Those are the same regiments that I found
and reported to Francis via P M
So call it whatever regiment that you wish
but I would bet it not K R 2
that it is from one of the flags that were taken to Russia
I would hope that the K R 2 is O K and still in Germany
Do you know it's current location today ?
Many thanks
Steve

Here is an interesting Imperial German flag story.
At the start of WWI, the German Army still carried the flags into battle.
After the French Army captured 9 or more of the flags,
there was a directive to no longer take the flags into battle.
The French made a big deal of the captured German flags.
They were put on display.
Postcards were produced and sold
like the one here that shows 9 of the flags.
They also produced miniature copies of the flags and sold them.
When the German Army occupied Paris
the flags were taken back to Germany
Then after the loss of WWII by the Germans
the Russians took some of the same flags to Moscow.

Steve,
it is the Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig, probably 1st July 1933 in Mainz at the inauguration of the memorial for the fallen of the Inf.-Rgt. No. 117.
;) Best regards, Jens
