Absolutely. That helmet could have been made as late as 1887, before the M1887 was released. That is only ten years from the first use of the Reich's Kokarde. Have a look at THIS thread where we talk about the "issue dates" thanks, nice site btw, you're doing a brilliant job building this...

And I presume that this one has always been used (because it has two "kokarden" from a later period) So in some regiments there would be some guys wit an "antique" helmet? :oops:

doesn't look good, crown of eagle is not open, spitze + teller not common, splinten im inneren as far as I can see not OK, model suspicious (vorderschiene attached in a strange way, too vertical), looks like a composed helmet to me. not OK as far as I, m concerned... other opinions?

Strange, I don't see a "Umlaut" sign on the U in the word "für" in "Mit Gott für König und Vaterland" it should be there, because the pronounciation is different ben ik nu een muggenzifter?

I don't know if you can read german, but he gives a reason for doing this: the helmet was composed of parts that didn't belong together, AND YOU COULD SEE IT...
