Very nice photo,
It is really a mishmash with theirs wappen.
The facts that they have number 9 on the shoulder straps and they are equipped with old Mausers 88 and 71 could indicate Reserve Grenadier Regt. 9.
They also wear an old pre war tunics.
Cheers,
Milosz
Something in better resolution :D
Could anyone tell me what is attached on the belt the guy with the trumpet on the first picture??
And also the chap with "pocket in the cuff" has on the arm strange emblem, for me it looks like a star??
You are right Chip, the Halstuch are very hard to find. To be honest I have never before seen Halstuch in any collections.
I will soon update my site and add this new items.
I agree with you Gus. They do not look like typical soldier shirts - too many extra details. However they belonged to the same person - owner of the neck cloth and scarf - Lorenz.
So, I can assume it is civilian shirt used in the war - which was quite popular.
Thank you
Few weeks ago I bought the Neck cloth (Halsbinde) and Scarf both with the label with the owner name "Lorenz".
There were also two shirts found together with these Neck cloth and Scarf but I really do not know if these shirts were soldier shirts used in the war or whether civilian.
Could...
Hello Stephane,
Maybe it is not for protection but to keep knee warm?
My great grandfather received during the war a Kniewärmier (Knee Warmers)?? I do not know how these knee warmers looked but definitely something like that existed in the German army.
Have a look at the list of the items...
The stamp is Ers.-Batl. Res.-Inf.-Regts. 94. The Regiment number is also visible on the second photo - on the boar behind JR94.
The card was sent from BENSHEIM 8/6/1915.
You are right Gus,
These photos do not show Polish soldiers. Polish Army since the beginning replaced the German insignia from the uniforms. They wanted to show that Poland is independent.

Joe,
I'm planning to prepare a map with places where the 3 RD was during the war. That's why I'm looking for any information or maps useful for this project. I know that the 3 RD started war on the eastern front where it stayed until May 1917.
