I totally agree Rob It's very hard to find complete original pieces no doubt about it. I'm always looking and sadly most of the ones I see for sale are made from old fire helmets I've even seen them sell where you can still see the old lines in the leather from where the comb was on the...

I always try to buy an item not the story. Stories are forgotten and lost over time and sometimes we are only left with the items and for me the item must stand alone on its own merit. I hope it all turns out for you, I'm very interested in seeing where this will go. (y)

It all depends on what you like. Personally, being half Bavarian I totally love them and have a few in my collection. I would love to have more but most of the ones I see are put together junk. IMO. When collecting Pickelhaubes obviously Raupenhelms are a totally different style of Helmet...

The flag looks original, but that style of Eagle is from the post WWI period. So, it is not as listed I believe your feelings are correct it's not made during WWI but the pre-WWII period.
